South African gets her teaching diploma at 50-years-old!

Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal – Patricia Zanele Ndlazi has been working at the Empangeni High School for the last thirteen years. When she wasn’t hard at work doing her day job, she was studying hard to complete her National Professional Diploma in Education.

Patricia has been employed as a household aid for the boys’ hostel.Recently she completed her diploma and is now able to become a foundation phase teacher. Foundation phase covers grades one to three. As she is in her fifties, she is hoping to start teaching children before she is set to retire.It was one of her greatest dreams to become a teacher. She never gave up and has become a beacon of hope for older South Africans who have yet to achieve their life-long goals.

Patricia is proof of that with a little bit of hard work, anything is possible.

Now that she has received her diploma, her next big dream is to teach children before she retires.“She is an excellent example to all and has motivated her colleagues to take education seriously.
