High Fives To Morgan Freeman For Transforming His Ranch Into A 124-Acre Honeybee Sanctuary [Video]

We need more heroes. More people who are willing to help the planet and the beings on it. That’s where Morgan Freeman steps in. On average, one in three bites of food you put into your mouth today is the result of the hard working yet humble honeybee.

Sadly, bees are dy-ing off at a rather alarming rate. Out of concern for reports of bees dy-ing in alarming amounts around the world, which is bad news for life on this planet, Morgan Freeman has converted his entire 124-acre ranch into a bee sanctuary. This has been the case with countless other grassroots efforts that exploded following celebrity support.

Thus, the concern of Morgan Freeman in this matter will hopefully turn some heads and get people thinking about the impact we are having on this planet.

Freeman joked in an interview with Jimmy Fallon in 2014 he has become “one with the bees” after turning his ranch in Mississippi into a refuge for the animals.

e feeds the bees with sugar and water and, with the help of his gardener, and plants acres upon acres of bee-friendly plants that include clover, lavender, and magnolia trees.

Freeman says his interest in beekeeping came after he grew concerned about declining numbers in the bee population.

Recognizing that bees play an integral part in the maintenance of our ecosystem, Morgan stated:

“There’s a concerted effort to bring bees back onto the planet … We do not realize that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of the planet, the vegetation… I have so many flowering things and I have a gardener too.

Because she takes care of the bees too, all she does is figure out, ‘OK, what would they like to have?’, so we’ve got acres and acres of clover, we’re planting stuff like lavender, I’ve got like, maybe 140 magnolia trees, big blossoms,” he adds.

“I’ve not ever used the beekeeping hat with my bees,” he says. “They haven’t stung me yet, because right now I’m not trying to harvest honey or anything, I’m just feeding them… I think they understand, ‘Hey, don’t bother this guy, he’s got sugar water here.”
